Grandville, Mich. (Jan. 31, 2014)
GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) -- It was a project over 17 years in the making. Friday night, Ken Imhoff debuted his hand-built Lamborghini right here in West Michigan.
The car has been featured on Good Morning America and Ripley's Believe it or Not. The car was built from scratch out of aluminum, with a steel tubular frame and a 351 Ford Cleveland engine.
After initially deciding to sell the car, Imhoff removed it from eBay and is now using it to tell the story about the personal and financial cost of building this vehicle.
"We're trying to share a message that car building is OK, but you can't make it an obsession, you can't make it your life, your family is more important. I learned that from this build," Imhoff said.
Mark Bratlie, Ken's friend agrees. "I shared with him some of the ideas I had about how he could use this car as an amazing draw to get people to reflect on their lives."
You can see the Lamborghini in person, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Borgman Ford Mazda on 28th Street in Grandville.
