Deanie Peters went missing February 5, 1981.

CASCADE, Mich. (WZZM) -- It remains one of the longest-running cold cases in the state of Michigan.

33-years later, there are still no answers in the disappearance of Deanie Peters.

It happened February 5th, 1981.

14-year old Deanie Peters was attending her brother William's wrestling meet at Forest Hills Central Middle School. She told her mother she was going to use the restroom.

Deanie then walked across the gym floor, out the doors, and was never seen again.

Massive searches were launched, but nothing was ever found.

The case went cold for several decades before the Kent County Metro Cold Case Team re-opened it in 2008.

During their investigation, Cold Case members say they've located people living in Grand Rapids today, who know what happened to Deanie Peters, and where her remains are buried, but they refuse to come forward.

"There would be no repercussions for you, unless you actually killed Deanie Peters," said Sgt. Det. Sally Wolter of the Kent County Metro Cold Case Team. "Just having knowledge of what happened to her will hold no repercussions for you. You cannot be charged. The statute of limitations has expired. It's hard to believe these individuals have lived with the secret for over 30 years."

Almost three years ago, WZZM launched a "Deanie Peters Facebook Page", hoping to generate conversation and drum up new leads in the case.

We would like to invite you to join the page, which now has more than 3,000 followers.

Several family members, friends, former classmates and concerned citizens post their thoughts and theories about the Peters' case.

To find it, just go to Facebook and type in the name "Deanie Peters" into the search box at the top.

If you have any information about this case that might help investigators, you're encouraged to call Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345 or the Kent County Sheriff's Department at (616) 632-6123.
