Woman reportedly abducted & raped in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WZZM) -- Public safety officers are investigating a report of a woman who says she was abducted and raped early Wednesday morning.

The crime happened around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Fairview Street and University Street.

The 24-year-old woman told police she was walking when a red pickup truck stopped and the driver The suspect grabbed her and forced her inside the vehicle.

The suspect raped the woman and later released her near where she had been abducted.

The rapist is described as a white man in his mid to late 30s, with dirty blonde or brown hair, a short, "scruffy looking" beard. He is believed to be about 5'7" to 6' tall and wearing oval shaped glasses. He was wearing a black or brown puffy winter coat, dark pants, and an orange hunting style knit hat.

The suspect was driving a newer model red extended cab pickup truck with a back seat. It has cream colored seats, a grey dash board and is a stick shift. The pickup truck was reported to have a 2x4 board sticking out of the bed of the truck.
